LUXEMBOURG – VIDEO SURVEILLANCE GARE AREA EXPANSION IN DETAILS

The video surveillance of the Gare de Luxembourg district will be expanded around the Central train station.

During automn 2018, part of Glesener and Adolphe Fischer streets will be equipped with video surveillance cameras.

During the year 2019 more streets will be equipped with CCTV. In particular rue 1900, rue du Commerce, rue du Fort Wedell, rue Wilson, rue des Etats-Unis and the Place de Strasbourg. A detailed schedule of camera installation will be established during this September 2018.

It is also planned to equip the bike gateway under the Adolphe Bridge without a specific date being known at the moment.

This information provided by the Minister of Homeland Security Etienne Schneider was expected since the public meeting on video surveillance Station neighborhood held on the 31 May in the presence of the Minister, the mayor of Luxembourg City Lydie Polfer and the Chief of the Luxembourg City Police René Lindenlaub. During this meeting, residents of the area expressed their frustration with the development of drug trafficking, prostitution and related nuisances in residential areas, in front of women and children.
