During a roadside control session today on the A6 motorway (Luxembourg-Arlon), the Traffic Police focused on the control of heavy goods vehicles, and in particular the maneuver which consists in a heavyweight doubles another with a slight difference in speed, this maneuver blocking traffic. The “elephant race” as it is called in trucker language is forbidden and in particular trucks must not overtake another vehicle around the capital city (Luxembourg).

Six drivers were fined.

During this session also, the Police inspected several vehicles stopped on the emergency stop lane, trucks and private vehicles. They were stopped there so that the driver has a rest, or made phone calls or bypassed the traffic / congestion slowdown.

It is reminded that the emergency stop lanes should only be used, as their name indicates, for an emergency stop. The driver and potential passengers must then immediately get safe behind the guardrail, put on a reflective vest, if possible secure the vehicle by placing the triangle 100 meters from the vehicle and then call for help.
