While a petition requesting the authorisation of inter lanes traffic for motorcyclists in Luxembourg has received more than 1,000 signatures and counting, the Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructures François Bausch replied in a negative way to this possibility.

MP Georges Engel (LSAP) had questioned the Minister last month on this issue, the Minister said today that it will be necessary to await the conclusions of the 4 years experimentation period currently launched in France since 2016 in 4 zones of the territory, which postpones the debate on the issue to 2020 at the earliest.

Only more than 4500 signatures to the petition would cause debate in the Parliament.

Today, generalised inter lane traffic in a European country is only allowed in Belgium, subject to slowed traffic, and the motorcyclist is not allowed to exceed 50 km/h.
