Strengthening Police equipment is an ongoing issue as police forces face difficult situations, whether for the police officers themselves or for the others. And any piece of equipment that can help protect and deter must be considered.
“Quickly solve dangerous situations involving criminals without making injuries”
In Luxembourg the Taser pulse gun is not used by the Police to date but an experiment is not excluded.
MPs Léon Gloden and Marc Spautz (CSV) today call on the Minister of Internal Security Etienne Schneider on the possibility of experimenting with the Taser pulse in the Luxembourg Police forces, the Minister has already said he is open on this matter, although to date there is no question of completing the equipment of the Police.
The two Luxembourg MPs claim an experiment by Trier Police (Germany) which shows the dissuasive role of the Taser pulse gun in the missions of the local Police, this gun having allowed “to solve quickly dangerous situations involving criminals without making wounded “. To the point that the Director of Trier Police hopes to receive and equip Trier Police officers with Taser pulse as quickly as possible.
Reinforcing police equipment by cameras is often mentioned but is not on the agenda.
As a standard, a Luxembourg policeman is equipped with his service weapon and an extra charger, a stick (usually short) and a pepper spray.
