After the alert at the beginning of the week on the presence of cyanobacteria (green blue algae) in certain rivers of Moselle (France) it is today a prohibition of bathing on the “Rommwiss” beach of the Haute-Sûre lake that is issued by the Water Management Administration.

Water analyzes have in fact revealed the excessive presence of cyanobacteria in the waters of this beach, it is therefore prohibited to bathing of humans and animals. It is also recommended not to drink its water (for humans and animals) and not to consume the fish caught.

The other beaches of the Haute-Sûre lake, like the other watercourses or bodies of water in Luxembourg, are not affected by such proliferation and are therefore allowed to bathing.

The Water Management Administration conducts regular water quality audits in the Grand Duchy and any abnormal results are immediately communicated.
