The Ministry of Health has initiated a training session on radon detection in housing for construction professionals.
Radon is a natural radioactive gas from the soil. It can easily enter buildings and be in ambient air in varying concentrations. By breathing it, it can thus reach the bronchi and consequently cause irradiation of the pulmonary tissues. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer after tobacco reminds the Minister.
On June 29, 2007, the Ministry gave training at the Institute for Building Sector Training (IFSB) on the detection of radon in housing and asked the firms present to push the inhabitants and the owners to have the radon measured, this measure is free of charge.
The list of companies that have completed this training will soon be made public.
