According to insistent rumors Lockheed Martin (LMT) is about to sign the firm order of 440 F-35 type aircraft destined for 11 different countries including the United States to deliver until 2020. The aircraft is already a commercial success.

The F-35 is the flagship of the US defense industry and to date only 2 countries have it, the United States and Israel. This aircraft is, in the opinion of the experts, without any competitor at present, and thus gives a considerable advance to the armies which own it.

Among the countries whose names circulate are Australia, Denmark, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Turkey, South Korea, Great Britain and the United States.

The unit price of the F-35 (excluding options and weapons) is $88 million which is quite competitive for a last generation aircraft.

President Trump after his election and even before his inauguration last January 20 had in a series of tweets put pressure on Lockheed Martin in order to bring down the price of the F-35, calling “out of control” the cost of its development.

The LMT share is up tonight Monday on Wall Street and is up more than 13% since the beginning of the year.
