MP Fernand Kartheiser (ADR) sent a parliamentary question on 7 April requesting details of DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks that government servers and servers in some private companies in the Grand Duchy suffered recently. Among the private companies whose servers were attacked, the name of Paul Würth appeared in the press but the firm didn’t confirm.

In a session to the Parliament few weeks ago, Prime Minister Bettel said that the heart of the State servers have not been reached, that the security of State systems have proved their effectiveness.

MP asks for more details, as to the whole technological park (including smartphones) and the level of countermeasures put in place.

Cybersecurity issues are taken very seriously in Luxembourg, in particular since the Wikileaks revelations that Luxembourg was spied on by the CIA and after Prime Minister Bettel confirmation that Luxembourg is increasingly attacked, these attacks don’t necessarily come from state agencies.

The replies of the Minister of Communication (Prime Minister) are forthcoming.
